Do you want to change the WordPress register form URL? I don’t blame you. The default URL for WordPress’ registration form is a bit ugly and unintuitive. You are forced to send users to an offshoot of your login form instead of a nice branded URL like “yoursite.com/register”.
In fact, changing the WordPress register URL has two main benefits:
- It can harden your security by making it slightly harder for bots to find your registration page.
- It’s more user friendly and offers an opportunity for better branding.
In this post, I’ll show you a quick method to change the WordPress registration form URL. I’ll do this by using RegistrationMagic to create a custom form which you can set as the default registration page for your site.
Sounds good? Let’s dig into it…
Change the WordPress Register URL Using RegistrationMagic
To get started, you need to first install and activate RegistrationMagic. Once the plugin is activated, create your first user registration form.
Now that your form is created, you should be able to see a shortcode of your form in the admin panel.

Copy the shortcode for use in the next step.
Now, you need to create a new WordPress page and paste the shortcode in the page content. Save changes for the page and you’re done!! You should see a new registration form at your chosen URL.

You can customize the form and add fields to make the form fit your site perfectly.
Changing the WordPress Register URL
Our next step is to make this new RegistrationMagic form page as the default WordPress register page. To do that, there’s a neat setting available in RegistrationMagic’s Global Settings. Just go to the Global Settings page and click on the Default Pages setting icon.

In the Default Pages settings, look for the setting “Default Registration Page“. By default this is set to “None“, in which case, WordPress shows its default register page.

Now go ahead and set this to the newly created RegistrationMagic form page. This will change the WordPress register form URL and redirect users to your custom registration form page.
Wrapping Things Up
There you go! A quick and easy way to change the WordPress registration form URL. This method requires very little time and gives you a lot more power over where your registration page is located and how it functions.
So, if you’re just looking for the absolute simplest way to change the default registration form, look no further than RegistrationMagic.
